Will wrench for parts!

I went by Long John's on Friday to drop off a poster and fliers for the Smokeout #13.
I also happened to have some fork tubes I needed to swap over for the FXR, just in case he was slow and would let me use a few air tools.

The next thing I knew it was,
" Ed would you change out the turn signal module on that Wide Glide."
" Ed go see if you can fix that idiots bike before he pulls it off the trailer."
" Ed this one needs a full service."
"Ed here's the phone, I gotta run an errand."
And on and on!!!!
By the time I got to swap the fork tubes the shop had been closed for half an hour.
All bikes were fixed and picked up, so John could go ride to the mountains for the weekend.
I got my forks swapped over, had a free lunch, and was told my new rear tire would be in on Tuesday.
And the tire was on the house!
It's been almost 4 years since I wrenched in a shop.
It was fun to do it again.
Hey, John! I need tires for my '82 FXR project!
Good times with Good friends!

Front end fun.

Chrome covers suck!! They add weight, rattle, and usually look cheesy. They also hide damage and stupid modifications. Since I am waiting on parts to come in. I figured it was a good time to rebuild the front end.

More parts for the pile.

Some jack ass cut the headlight visor mounts off the top tree so they could install a chrome cover.

The lower tree is missing a fork stop and the other one is cracked and almost gone.
I think one has been sourced from the pile o' parts at Gear Head Cycles.
The neck bearings were almost dry, but still in good shape.
A 39mm front will be in future plans.

Order out of Chaos!

Finally, a new storage unit that is big enough to get some work done on MY shit.

I still have to move one more tool box from Sprayberry Studios, but I have room for it now.
A big "THANKS" to Kevin and Mike for the help moving tool boxes and bikes.

Time to get to work on the 82' FXRS!

Carolina Harley Davidson

Closing the doors. It kind of sucks. Friends will loose their jobs. No more discounts. No more used parts stash.

I went by Saturday morning to see if I could get a front end from the used parts stash in back. No luck. Someone had offered them a butt load of cash for it and they were loading it up when I got there. I poked around for a little bit and took off. Lots of memories in that building. Hate to see it go.
Time to move on.

Hey kids, it's Jimmy Bortles.

Jimmy has built custom bikes at Cycle Sorcery, Carolina HD, and a bunch of shops in Florida. Now he is working out of his home. A bunch of people have taken credit for bikes Jimmy has built. He does great fab work and never gets the credit.

I was at Rusty's working on a springer for him, when Jimmy rode up. He shot the shit for a few minutes and hit the road. The bike he is riding is for sale.

Last Saturday Night

It got weird.
Kojack dancing for the ladies.

Kevin burning a hole in a rear fender.

Kevin's Triumph waiting in the corner of the shop and waiting and waiting. Why don't you ride me anymore?

Good times.

End of a good day.

At the end of the day. A cup of pepermint hot cocoa and a country setting is a good thing.

Point the wheel North and head back to Concord.

Good day

Kevin and I had a few errands to run on Sat. He was supposed to go to work by 12 noon. Never happened. I left his place and got home around 4am. His shop is coming along nicely. Watch out for Curley and Eli May they take their guard duties seriously!
