ART?!?
Even if I had the money to do something like this, I don't think I would. Cars are meant to be driven.

Sunday at Ray Price Harley Davidson
Since I was in Raleigh, a trip to Ray Price HD was mandatory. It's no secret that I really dig Harley Drag Racing and Ray is a long time Harley Davidson Drag Racer and the second floor of his dealership is dedicated to his racing and to some of those he raced with.
One of his earlier Top Fuel Bikes. Sportster bottom end with a Shovel Top. A Hilborn single throat mechanical fuel injection system supplies the "GO" juice.
OLD vs NEW. Way to many differences to list. Not often you get to check these machines out side by side. I really wish I could have gotten closer.
You have to look close at the rocker boxes. Old trick of removing the oil supply and return lines from the top end. Then put a grease fitting in the cross over spot. Grease the top end between rounds, no oil equals less oil returning into the crack case and less on the flywheels. Less parasitic drag means you go faster. Cut a section out of the rocker boxes so you can inspect them between rounds. Cover with a strip of duct tape for the run. Lighter and faster.
BIG difference in the newer Air Induction Size!
This was the bike Ray was riding when I fist saw a Top Fuel Harley. Moroso Drag Strip in West Palm Beach, FL. When they used to run in November. 19??????? Fuck I'm getting old.
It was really cool to walk around and see the awards and records Ray earned over the years racing. Some from racing organizations that are no longer around. I'm not sure any are around now after the AHDRA cancelled the 2013 season.
If your in the Raleigh, NC area stop by and check it out. Top Fuel bikes, busted parts, and racing history. All for FREE. You can't beat that.

Florida Op. Jamie checks in.
I was in NC around Porsche's and he responded by being in FL around Ferrari's. A buddy of his is an instructional driver for the Super Car rides that was held at Moroso in West Palm.
Bet it was fun!

Sunday at the Pinehurst Concours d' Elegance
7:30am:
With the weather threatening to ruin the day, Pepper and I headed out towards Pinehurst, NC.
I had never been to a show like this before and was a looking forward to it.
9:30am:
It is very evident that there is a lot of old money at this type of show. Wearing vans, jeans, and a DC Choppers long sleeve, I received a few stares from other patrons while riding the tram from the Polo Grounds to the Club House/Show Grounds.
10:00am:
With music flowing from speakers mounted in trees, we made our way to the show grounds. Greeting us was a 1960's Vintage Ferrari 275 LM.
12:00pm:
I keep hearing other patrons asking about someone who is at the show. Is he a rock star? Who is the guy with the long hair? Is he some sort of celebrity? Is he a movie star? Look! There he is!
I look over where the guy in the suit is pointing. In skinny jeans, greasy boots, a flannel shirt, and a trucker hat covering his dread locks is Magnus Walker. Magnus Walker is the owner of Serious clothing and the focus of the short film Urban Outlaw. A Porsche collector, racer and builder of some slick 911's, Magnus has been on the rise in the Porsche community over the last year or so.
He is a 911 guru and with this being the 50th Anniversary of the 911, he has been asked to attend many of the Porsche events this year. I got a chance to talk to him for awhile. He's a nice guy who knows his 911's. He was surprised at the amount of cars that were at the show and how most of them were local. He is looking forward to attending this event next year and expects it to be even bigger.
With this being the 50th for the Porsche 911 and the 60th for the Corvette, both were heavily represented at Pinehurst.
Tom Cotter whose "In the Barn" Series I recommend to all, was there with his 1964 Corvette Stingray Race car which he still competes with on the track.
Tom was selling a his revised book on Holman Moody Race Team. I may have to get that one in the near future.
This 1970 Plymouth Superbird, took home the Chairmans Award.
Rick Hendrick's 1968 Corvette L88. Listed as the most Victorious Corvette in history. This car set Mr. Hendricks back $1,100,000.00 when he purchased it at auction earlier this year. It sounds as good as it looks.
2:00pm:
It started to drizzle while the class winners were announced. We decided to beat it before the sky's really opened up and the dash for cover happened.
A BIG "THANKS" goes out to Kara for the tickets and parking pass. Tickets for this thing were $40 to $50 each. I don't think we would have gone if not for Kara's gift.
Thanks to Magnus for taking the time to talk with us. Check him out at http://magnuswalker911.blogspot.com/

This Rally Styled Porsche was one of my favorites of the show.
This 1936 Stout Scarab was really cool. The metal work and detail on this thing was incredible.2:00pm:

Iron Lords Car Club Party
After a day of looking at all things auto and greasy, followed up by a steak dinner (my reward to Pepper for not bitching about looking at parts), how else would I end the day? Well, with a bash at the Iron Lords CC Garage. The guys in the club throw a great party with no attitudes allowed. It was a good thing we ate first before heading there. The BBQ was long gone by 7pm. They went through 90lbs of BBQ, 4lbs of Naner puddin, and an unknown amount of liquid refreshment in various forms.
Music was supplied by the Straight 8's.
As usual there were a ton of cool rods in full effect.
Projects of every stage of build are there for visitors to check out. For some reason my camera wouldn't take a a picture of the black Buick gasser being built.
I've said it before and I mean it. The guys from the Iron Lords CC are some really cool cats. No attitudes and are willing to talk to anyone about their rides. Even a dumb ass like me.
My favorite Scout was there again. I still haven't met the owner of this thing. This time it was joined by a few more Internationals. Alex at my work is building a Scout. Maybe I can convince him to let me shoot it for the blog when finished.
Once again a big "THANKS", goes out to the Iron Lords CC for have a great party.
I was able to dodge Miss Heather for the night. Rumor is she has a bone to pick with me about a dinner. Heather I just can't complete with Big Mikes cooking. I'm going through cook books looking for gourmet hot dog recipes. I will let you know as soon as I find one.
Dirty Ed
The Food Lion Auto Fair
Was in town again.
Pepper and I had been cooper up in the Casa De Moto for too long and decided to head on over.
If you've never been to the Auto Fair and you are into American sports cars, muscle cars, hot rods, rat rods, parts, signs, collectables, and all things greasy. Well then your missing out.
This four day event is held at the Charlotte Motor Speedway over four days and you will need all four days to see it all.
Arriving at the speed way, we made our way up through the gates to the track. View from the stands gives you an idea of how huge this event really is. Don't forget to wear good walking shoes. You'll need them.
These pictures don't do the show justice. There are cars and vendors all over the track, infield, walk ways, and in the field outside the track. We arrived at 10am, checked out the show non stop until 5pm and still didn't see half of what was there.
My little 10 year old Cannon Power Shot has been acting up lately. So instead of getting to see pictures of Cobras, Mustangs, Vettes, and all the other rods that were there. You get to see the Scrambler I drooled over. MY camera worked long enough for me to get pics of two cars and that was it for the day. Maybe its time I start looking for a new camera.
At least I got a picture of this killer hauler.
If you do go, I have to warn you and suggest a few things.
1. Water and soda are $5 at all the food vendors. Some parts vendor have water at their stands for a $1 or $2 donation so skip the food vendors and head to the swap meet area.
2. Bring sun screen. Being the first event of the year for me I forgot, but my farmer tan is in full effect now. Even my big goofy hat didn't protect my neck.
3. If your looking for parts, plan on being there at least two days. Three would be better. This thing is huge, you will do alot of walking, looking and talking with vendors and people. You just can't do it all in one day.
4. Bring a cart, back pack , or wagon to haul your newly acquired goodies around. Even a SU carb gets heavy after a few hours in the sun. A wagon or cart is a good way to bring a cooler with you beverage of choice.
5. Make sure you fuel lines are in good condition. We followed a Galaxy out of the parking lot. My truck is a diesel but for smoe reason I keep smelling gas. Not a rich running car, I smelled gas and a lot of it. About a half mile down the road the Galaxy cut out and started smoking under the hood. Yep it was on fire. I hope they got it put out before it totaled the car. No pictures from the fire.
Fucking camera!

Traded in two wheels for four hooves.
Went for a ride in the woods this weekend.
John looking like a freedom fighter, all he needs is a old Soviet
bolt action rifle slung over his shoulder.
Kristen, wanted to make friends with Misty after the ride.
It worked. Treats for Misty.
Although it was fun, I'm not ready to trade in my bikes for a horse.
No handle bars, stinky exhaust, and a long drop if you fall off.

Guess what is going on right now?!?!?!
I really want to go to this one year.
Maybe race it.Four wheels not on two.
Mexico has a fucking war going on right now.
So, until that shit goes away.
I'm keeping my ass in the US.

Iron Lords cc Party!
The Iron Lords cc had a meet and greet at their garage on Friday.

Lots of cool rods and cool people.

Makes me want to build a 50 Mercury Lead Sled or 50s truck.

Just what I need another project I don't have time to work on or enjoy.

Still its cool to dream.
Thanks to the Iron Lords cc for the invite.
