Camping at Morrow Mountain.

A while back K and I decided to go camping. We needed to get away and this was a cheap way for us to do it. I had recently acquired a bunch of older camping gear from a house clean out. It's not like I needed it. I already have a ton of camping gear, but if it's free, It's for me. Even though it had been sitting in a work shop since 1994 covered in dust, it fired right up and worked fine. It was time to load up the truck and head out for a camping test run.
Steak Kabobs for dinner. Cooked on a 1970's Coleman 425F stove.

Ready for a nice cool evening in the woods. The Coleman 285-700 Dual Fuel Dual Mantel Lantern from the early 1980's was bright as FUCK when turned on high. Here it is about 1/4 on.

Vintage Boy Scout Hatchet. Made from 30's thru 60's. Still sharp. I do need to make a new sheath for it.

White tail deer were everywhere. A few does and a fawn came with in 20 feet of the tent several times while we were camping. Dinner on the hoof!!!!!!

Need to relax and mellow out? Have a camp fire. For some reason it always has a way of making you forget your troubles.

I have to say that all the gear did great. I think with a little tweaking we will be good to go on trips farther away and for a longer time. Just need a few more weekend trips like this.
We stayed from Friday through Sunday. Got to do a little fishing, relaxing and a lot of good eating.
Something we will definitely do again and soon.
Not a bad way to spend our 2 year anniversary.

IRON LORDS CC Party

I knew the Food Lion Auto Fair was in town, but wasn't sure if the Iron Lords CC were going to throw a bash or not. So, I was really stoked when Ron sent me a text. "Be there Fucker!", was all it said and all it needed to say. I had gotten my invite and the party was on!
I arrived solo to the party. Yep, everyone bailed on me. Someone had a bachelor party to go to. Mr. and Mrs. Gearhead were going to play the banjo naked by a burn barrel they had just picked up at an auction. Even my redhead "didn't feel good".
So being the sensitive and caring guy that I am. I gave her a shot of Wild Turkey and said "SEE YA!"

With the Loose Lug Nutz playing in the back ground, I wandered around checking out all the cool rides.
VW's were an unusual sight. I counted three buses and at least one Karmann Ghia. Even though I am not a fan of dirty hippies, I am a fan of VWs so I enjoyed checking these things out. If I remember correctly, I know were a '74 Westfalia is waiting to be rescued. Oh, yeah like I need another project that I won't finish.
Anybody need a '74 Westie project? I can tell you where to get one. ( for a finders fee of course)

I've seen this motor every where!!! It's been on a bunch of car forums and even a AR15 forum!
Pin Stripes really do make it look good. I like the detail on the fire wall.

First it was flat black, then rust, followed by old patina paint, and now it's bare metal that seems to be the rage now with bikes and rods. As cool as some things look this way, I really like a clean smooth glossy paint job. Bring on the flames and candy!!!!!

Now before you think all these guys do is buy a turn key car and call themselves a car club, you need to walk around the shop first. There are a lot of on going projects with serious fab work being done. Welders, fabricators, mechanics, they do it all. Plus, the shop is packed with all kinds of neat shit. I could spend hours just walking around the shop checking it all out.

Kenny's new ride. Lowered and sitting just right. The old Coleman cooler inside was really cool.

Well that about covers it. As usual the Iron Lords CC were great hosts and threw a great party. If you get a chance to check out one of their parties do it. The guys are friendly and knowledgeable, so don't let the tattoos and grease scare you.
A big "Thanks" goes out tp the Iron Lords CC for a good time.

Myrtle Beach.

I had to work in Myrtle Beach during Bike Week.
I really don't care for Myrtle Beach and I hate Bike Week there.
Lucky for me Rusty and Meggen live there now.
They let me crash at their place.
We hung out while I was there cooking out, working on bikes, shooting the shit, and
having a good time.

Rusty's softail today. Simple and clean.
Right on!

Here's what it used to look like.

Oscar, pissed about being in the kitchen and not being able to open the fridge.

It was good to catch up with Rusty and Meggen.
I haven't seen them since they moved.
Good Times.

Revenge Run II Sunday.

We loaded up and headed West. Two riders decided to
sleep in and told us to jam.

Ian, in search of a breakfast waffle!

Kevin, glad he's not working.

After unloading, it was time to get all the salt off.

Ready for the next ride.

Everyone made it home safe. No trucks were needed.
Good times.

Revenge Run II Sat. Pt.3

We made it to Wilmington, got a room, something to eat, cleaned up a little, and
headed to the bar.
Someone gave Grey a belt and drive set up.
He just had to install it.

Grey working on the tranmission mounts.

We all pitched in to get him going again.

Inside the band played and they raffled off shit.

Midnight and the bike was ready. A little adjustment on the
rear brake and its off to the hotel for us.
Well, some of us.

Revenge Run II Sat. Pt.2

Cedar Island Post office and pit stop.
Go around back to pee.

Bug Spray Grill.
I can't figuare out why they were closed.

On the road to Wilmington.
I think this is the way.

Revenge Run II Sat. Pt1

We lucked out and got tickets for the 10am ferry.

Ian letting Mike know that if he doesn't get the Pan started
he will leave him.
Gotta love those kick start bikes.

Waiting on the ferry.
I think that dude talking to Mike and Ian is a cop.

On the Ferry from Ocracoke to Cedar Island.

A few bikes on the left.

A few on the right.

We haven't gotten close to the dock yet, and these numb nuts fired up their bikes
and started reving their engines.

Revenge Run II Friday Pt3

Coast Guard cutter as seen from the seat of my FXR.

Ian, thinking about how to put that axe to good use.
We left the ferry headed to the camp grounds.
Ian riding beside me. I checked my mirror. Mike, Kevin, and John.
Then a few more headlights. Then more and more.
By the time we pulled into the campground Ian and I were at the head of
a huge pack of bikes.
Fucking cool was all I could say.
Wish I had a picture of it.
Evo's in the lead bitches!!!!

Get to the campground, find a spot, spray on bug spray, put up tent fast,
more bug spray, get beer and food, more bug spray, laugh at the families camping near by,
apply more bug spray, check out crabs and fire on beach, more bug spray, get in tent
as fast as possible, and sleep.

Nice camp grounds.
The mosquito's sucked.

Revenge Run II Friday Pt2

We were rollin'. Ahead of everybody. Riding at a good pace.
Mike went around a truck, then Grey pulled out and whipped back in a slowed down fast.
As I went past him he yelled that he had no gears or forward momentum.

Grey getting ready to find out what is wrong.

Can you guess what happened?
Can you guess what we didn't have an extra one of?
Hint. That's not a snake by the front tire.
The chase van showed up after the entire pack had passed us.

Enjoy the ride Gray. See you at the next stop.
Yep. He had to ride in the back with two bikes and a ton of shit.

On the ferry to Ocracoke Island.

Revenge Run II Friday Pt. 1

Thursday night after getting lost several times we made it back to the hotel.
Kevin's bike was having a hard time starting and running at low rpm's.
A new set of plugs fixed it.
Then he heard a nasty sound coming from the primary. The primary
chain shoe was almost cut in half and the chain was slapping like crazy.

We made it to the dealership, pulled the primary off, removed the melted nylon that was
the old shoe and installed a new one made for a twin cam.
It worked (kind of).

Down the road we went at the end of a slow pack of bikes.

Due to the small fuel tanks of some bikes, the pack was stopping every 30 miles.
We decided to wait for the pack to leave. Then blast past them and stop every 60 miles.
We would be at the lunch stop first and be rested by the time the pack arrived.
No Problem. Right?

Waiting for the draw bridge.

Kevin says the bike is G2G!

Mike confident that we will soon be at the restaurant
and way ahead of schedule.

Revenge Run II Thursday.

Get a few good friends together for a road trip.
What could go wrong?

Last minute adjustments before hitting the road.

We're really doing it!

Ian chillin' at the back of the pack.

Kevin going up a steep hill.

Sunny sky's, and the open road.
Nice!
